For Passengers

Open in AVIOCONTROL APPS

What it does

Twenty-seven illustrated, narrated slides for nervous passengers: how fear works and how to calm it, how safe flying is (IATA 2025 figures), the layers of safety behind every flight, how the aircraft is built and certified, two engines and gliding, pilot training and checks, maintenance, air traffic control, weather, every phase of the flight with the sounds and movements you will notice, turbulence and your seat belt (NTSB study), lightning, go-arounds and landing, slow breathing and answering the "what if". Includes a flight-day toolkit (what each noise means, a guided breathing exercise, your checklist), a quiz and a certificate of completion. Information and self-help, not therapy or medical advice.

Individual app: each person uses it with their own account; your data is private to you and saved to your account.

How to use it

  1. Open the Course tab and press the play button to start the narration; use the ‹ and › buttons, a swipe or the dots to move between the 27 slides.
  2. Tick Continue automatically to move on after each slide, choose the narration Speed, and press Show transcript to read the text of the slide.
  3. Open the Quiz tab, answer all 12 questions and press Check my answers to see your score and the explanations; press Try again for a new attempt.
  4. Before and during your flight, use the Flight-day toolkit tab: choose a Phase of the flight to see what each noise means, start the slow breathing guide, and tick your checklist.
  5. Open Progress & certificate to see the slides viewed and your best quiz score; once every slide is viewed and you score 80 % or more, the certificate carries the full name of your portal account and press Download certificate (PDF), or Print certificate to print it.
  6. The quiz opens once every slide has been on screen for at least the normal length of its narration; if you speed up the narration, the next slide starts when that time is reached.
  7. Press Print notes at the top to print or save the course summary with its drawings and tables.
  8. In Progress & certificate, press Download backup (.json) to keep a copy of your progress, Restore backup to load one, or Start again to clear it.
