Flight Day Companion
Phase by phase, what you hear and feel, with a calm breath at hand.
For Passengers
Open in AVIOCONTROL APPSWhat it does
Follows your flight using the phone's GPS in flight mode, or your own taps: taxi, take-off, climb, cruise, descent, approach and landing, with what each noise and movement means, distance and time to go, guided slow breathing and a summary of how you felt.
Individual app: each person uses it with their own account; your flight and your notes are private to you and saved to your account, and the optional GPS reading uses your own device's position.
How to use it
- On the My flight tab, type a city, airport or code in From and To and pick the airport from the list: the app shows the straight-line distance and an estimated flight time.
- If you know them, enter your own Flight time (h:mm) and the Take-off time (optional) so the progress bar can count down by the clock.
- During the day, tap the phase you are in (At the gate, Taxi, Take-off, Climb, Cruise, Descent, Approach, Landing, Arrived), or press Use GPS to let the app detect it; press Stop GPS to switch it off.
- For each phase, read the description, the list under What you may hear and feel, and the tip below it.
- Under How do you feel now? tap a number from 0 (calm) to 10 (very anxious); it is noted for the current phase.
- Whenever you feel tense, open the Breathe tab and press Start: breathe in for 4 seconds and out for 6 while the circle moves; press Stop to end.
- After landing, open How I felt to see your anxiety by phase, the hardest and calmest moments; press New flight twice to clear everything for your next trip.
