What it does

About 3,800 acronyms and 4,400 meanings from ICAO, EASA, the FAA and IATA, with the source of each meaning, a warning when an acronym has several meanings, a simple example of where it is used and its pronunciation on the radio. Search as you type in English or Spanish, filter by source and by speciality, keep your own list and practise it with flashcards. Includes the ICAO spelling alphabet and a finder of about 17,000 airport codes. Works without internet once opened; the official lists are checked every week.

Individual app: each person uses it with their own account. Your list of acronyms (My list) is saved to your account. The data is inside the app, so the search works without internet once the app is open.

How to use it

  1. Type in the search box at the top: an acronym (for example adsb, a/c or MEL) or a word of its meaning in English or Spanish (for example minimum equipment or aeronavegabilidad). The list updates as you type and the matches are highlighted.
  2. Use the source buttons (ICAO, EASA, FAA, IATA, AIP AU, Unofficial) to see only the meanings of one source, and the speciality buttons (Maintenance, Pilots, ATC, Airports, Drones, Helicopters and more) to narrow the list to your work.
  3. Tap a letter of the A-Z bar to browse the acronyms that start with it.
  4. When an acronym has several meanings they are numbered: read the context of your document to choose the right one. The badge on each meaning tells you which source publishes it.
  5. Press ☆ Add to keep an acronym in My list, and open Flashcards to practise the acronyms of My list or of the current filters.
  6. Open ICAO alphabet to see the spelling alphabet and the radio numbers, or type a registration or a word to spell it.
  7. Open Airport codes and type an ICAO code (LEMD), an IATA code (MAD), a city code (LON) or a name to find the airport.
  8. Open What's new to see the acronyms added or changed since this version, marked NEW or CHANGED in the list.
